Prof. Zhaohong BIE received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Electric Power Department of Shandong University, Jinan, China in 1992 and 1994, respectively. She received the Ph. D. degree in Electric Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China in 1998. Currently, she is the Vice President of Xi’an Jiaotong University and the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University. She is also the President of IEEE PES China Chapter, a member of the National Key Talent Project of China, and the Director of Smart Grid Key Laboratory of Shaanxi Province, China.

Prof. Zhaohong BIE’s main interests and research fields are in the general area of smart grid and renewable energy. She has worked extensively on power system reliability evaluation, grid integration of renewable energy resources, and transmission system planning & operation. Her current researches focus on the resilience of smart distribution systems and the planning & operation of energy interconnection. She has authored over 100 published journal articles and won 8 Science & Technology prizes. She is the Convenor of IEC TC8/WG7 on General Planning, Design, Operation and Control of Microgrids, and won the IEC 1906 Award for her contribution to the working group in 2017.
