IEEE PCCC WIP Forum of 2023 PSGEC

Mission, Growth and Value in the Decarbonization of Future Power Grid
—— IEEE PCCC WIP Forum of 2023 PSGEC

On August 25th, 2023, with the guidance of IEEE PCCC Shanghai Chapter (PES China Chapter Council, PCCC), the IEEE WIP forum of “Mission, Growth and Value in the Decarbonization of Future Power Grid” has been successfully held, as part of 2023 3rd Power System And Green Energy Conference (PSGEC 2023), hosted by WIP Shanghai Chapter and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The IEEE WIP Shanghai forum focusing on R&D advances in power engineering, are encouraging female engineers to take responsibility and make efforts in accelerating decarbonization. The event has been held as hybrid conference with participation of multiple ways—— onsite participation in Shanghai, online participation through Tencent meeting, and also live broadcasted. Dr. Bei Han from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, also representing IEEE WIP Shanghai Chapter served as the panel chair of this event; opening welcome speeches were given by Ms. Xiaoliang Chen, Prof Dong Liu, and Prof. Guojie Li.

Ms. Xiaoliang Chen as the Deputy secretary-general of the Clean Energy Resource Alliance of CAST Member Societies encouraged young female engineers and gave suggestions on key issues in developing sustainable power system. Prof Dong Liu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, also representing IEEE PES Shanghai Chapter as Co-chair emphasized the significant contributions of female engineers and proposed innovative perspectives in power system development opportunities. Prof. Guojie Li warmly welcomed the guests and participants for the WIP forum as the chair of the organizing committee of PSGEC 2023.

Following the welcoming stage, invited speeches were given by five brilliant scholars: Dr. Li Wei from Tongji University presented “Investigation on Characteristic Parameters Identification and Evolution of Supercapacitor Energy Storage System From Sparse and Fragmented Monitoring Data”; Dr. Ning Xie from Shanghai Jiao Tong University on the title of “Multi-Objective Optimization Considering Work-Life Balance for Female Researchers”; Prof. Aiqing Ma from Shanghai University of Electric Power presented “Research on Improving the Current Carrying Capacity of Distribution Network Cable Lines when Changing to Narrow Channels”; Dr. Shanshan Shi from State Grid Shanghai Electrical Power Research Institute talked on “Experience Sharing of IEEE Standard Formulation”; and Dr. Lu Liu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University presented on “Coordinated transmission network expansion planning considering security”.

Wonderful and Excited speeches have resonated discussions among participants. And finally, closing remarks were given by Dr. Hui Hou from Wuhan University of Technology, and representing a member of IEEE PCCC WIP committee, She thanked all guests and scholars who participated in this WIP Forum and encouraged the joining of IEEE PCCC WIP.

To summary, on this forum supported by IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Shanghai Chapter, IEEE PES Women in Power (WIP), and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, female engineers have ex-changed ideas and shared experience for supporting growth, empowering cooperation and emphasizing female value in Shanghai, and encouraged the participation of more female power in developing future sustainable power grid.
