On April 30,2022, under the guidance of IEEE PES China Committee (PES China Chapter Council, PCCC), the theme activities of IEEE PES Day 2022 China Committee of Female Engineers (China WIP) and Wuhan Branch (Wuhan Chapter) forum, and the Promotion meeting of Women in future sustainable development were held online and participated by 558 scholars. The event was guided by IEEE PES China Chapter Council, and co-hosted by IEEE PES China WIP, IEEE PES Wuhan Chapter, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan University of Technology; the conference was co-chaired by IEEE PES China WIP Chairman Professor Wang Xiaoru, Dr. Chen Xia, Secretary of IEEE PES Wuhan Branch, and Dr. Hou Hui, representative of IEEE PES Day 2022 Wuhan Chapter.
This event focuses on the development of women in science and technology, to unite and help more women in science and technology to participate in China WIP, and to unite and work together to create a sustainable future. Encourage and discover more female talents, and help them increase their influence in the industry to gain more opportunities for growth. The event calls for more participation in the future of sustainable development of women, women whose innovation, vitality, creativity and sustainable development ideas are providing “her power” to promote sustainable development in the future.
Professor Wang Xiaoru, Chair of IEEE PES WIP China, presided over the opening of the meeting and introduced the participants and the schedule of the event.
IEEE PES President, IEEE Fellow Professor Zhou Xiaoxin, IEEE PES WIP Chairman Ms. Lisien Leon, Chairman of IEEE PES China Chapter Council Professor Bie Zhaohong have given keynote speeches online, presenting high appreciations on IEEE PES Day 2022 China WIP & Wuhan Chapter’s women-themed event, and insights were focused on the theme of the conference, “Women’s Driving Role in the Sustainable Development of the Future (Women in Powering a Sustainable Future).”
Then, Dr. Hou Hui, Ambassador of IEEE PES Day 2022 Wuhan Chapter, presided over the keynote speech of the conference, introduced the guest information in detail, and thanked all the guests for their support and participation.
Professor Celia Shahnaz, Chairman-Elect of IEEE WIE (Women in Engineering), shared the keynote report on “Research and Innovation for Women Empowerment and meet UN Sustainable Development Goals”, introducing key factors in the future trend of IEEE PES, explaining the impact of COVID-19, Artificial Intelligence, AI) and other technologies on IEEE PES and the role of women in promoting its development.
Professor Dong Jing, IEEE Asia Pacific executive committee, IEEE SPS Membership Development Director, made speech on “Waking up WIE leaders for sustainable development “, and introduced the model of IEEE WIE leadership, example once outstanding leaders, reflect the characteristics and quality of outstanding leaders, called on the leaders to lead an example, actively play a leading role.
Ms. Zhang Xiaofeng, Chair of IEEE PES China Smart Village Committee, delivered a keynote report on “Renewable Energy and Future Grid”, explaining the goal of “carbon neutral” of globalization, and the innovative development and challenges of clean smart grid in the future.
Professor Zhu Lingyu, IEEE PES Day 2022 China Representative, shared “New Power System and the New Era of WIP” report, introduced the PES Day activities related characteristics and new power system, the new era of WIP outlook, finally shared the PES Day activities in China.
