The session presents four major topics through four panel sessions. A diverse set of speakers were invited\, including IEEE PES leaders and the WIP region and chapter representatives\, both female role models and male leaders who have given full support to women development. The speakers made valuable speeches and shared experiences and viewpoints in women development\, which helps to improve the status of women and inspire women leadership. \nDr. Ruomei Li\, Chair of WIP of IEEE PES (2019-2021)\, WIP Liason in WIE Committee \n \nPanel 1: Opening Address\nTopic: Bright Prospects for WIP in IEEE PES Community\nSainab Taiwo Ninalowo\, Former WIP PES Chair\, Engineer of ComEd\, delivered a speech on “Creating Diverse and Meaningful Connections that Foster Human-Centered Development” and presented how becoming PES WIP member can benefit ones’ careers\, socialize\, and contributions to local and global issues. \n \nWayne Bishop Jr.\, Vice President of IEEE PES Meeting and Conferences\, gave a speech on “WIP and PES Conferences” and brought an exciting announcement about the new pledge passed lately\, i.e. “Adopt the WIE pledge -PES supports the inclusion of a diverse set of speakers which will lead to more creative\, interesting and representative panels across the PES and pledges to end same-sex panels at all PES meetings\, conferences and events\, including the PES WIP events”. He also made a “call for action” to have more women in leadership roles in IEEE PES Conferences and to have more women speakers at all events. \n \nDr. Noel Schulz\, IEEE Fellow\, IEEE PES President (2012-2013)\, Professor of Washington State University\, talked about “Resilience for Women in Power” and the opportunities and challenges. The networks and mentors function as resilience toolbox and how they are beneficial for women. \n \nMontero Juan Carlos\, IEEE PES Vice President of Membership and Image\, system operater of Costa Rica Institure of Electricity\, introduced the experiences operating with high renewable energy sources and the development of women members of Costa Rica . \n \nJessica Bian\, IEEE PES President-Elect\, Vice President\, Grid-X Partners\, gave a comprehensive introduction of the PES and the PES WIP\, which provide good platform and strong support for preparing women to become future leaders. \n \nPanel 2: Keynote Speech\nTopic: Women leadership in Power & Energy Industry\nWanda Reder\, IEEE Fellow\, President & CEO of Grid-X Partners\, made a speech on “Building Gender Diversity in the Power & Energy Industry”. She shared her viewpoint on the importance and advantage of gender diversity\, and some commendations for women engineers and organizations. \n \nCarla Frieh\, Director of Engineering of ComEd\, shared her career experience: when we collaborate together\, we make it possible to do more and be better.
