Ashley Commander

Ashley Commander has a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She began her career in Transmission Planning at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in 2013. With multiple job rotations, she now acts as Bulk Planning Principal Engineer over the West area of TVA’s territory. She oversees multiple large projects, including strategic projects to provide reliable power and area expansion capability for local economic development. Ashley is a longtime member of IEEE, and most recently served as Chapter Chair of IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Chattanooga Chapter. Ashley was involved in many volunteer and community service activities, including acting as the Transmission Planning lead for the TVA STEM Summer program, Task Manager for the Transmission Planning & Asset Management (TPAM) Employee Advisory Group (EAG), and one of her accomplishment was being a team lead for the first IEEE Chattanooga Chapter scholarships benefitting three worthy local college students. She was the recipient of the 2017 IEEE PES Chattanooga Young Engineer of the Year award, as well as the 2019 Gen. Robert Neyland Young Engineer of the Year award presented as part of Chattanooga Engineers Week.
